The XMouse Toggle application was developed to be a a little utility to turn “XMouse” behavior on and off. This means that when you hover the mouse over a window, that window becomes activated, but doesn’t come to the front. It’s handy to scroll background windows.

i have a question for everyone… I just got a new sewing machine that I’ve been playing with for the past few weeks and i love it. I have purchased many patterns and such and have a bunch of pieces that i’m going to try to turn into baby clothes…. only problem is they are not for babies under 6 months old… so i have many many baby clothes that i dont have for the right age… :o( i’m thinking that i’ll just cut the legs out of the pants and make little cute shirts to go with them…. anyone have any ideas?

The XMouse Toggle utility uses the “Keymacro” feature of the built-in Window Manager. It uses the X11 command keymacro to make the XMouse active (highlight the mouse and activate the XMouse) and inactive (deactivate the XMouse). This command is most commonly used with the SUPER key. The application is quite simple, it requires no configuration and it is the X11 Window Manager that is used.

You can get into the habit of using Alt+` for quick opening of the apps using the small window on the right.
Also have to use the windows where I right-click on the panel. I have always found the windows with alt+` to be the most useful.

– XMouse Toggle turns on and off the XMouse (Win 4.x, OSX) behavior.
– This software is not intended to be a replacement for XFCE’s Window Manager (or any window manager).
– It also does not replace the standard window manager. The XMouse Toggle just makes it easier to make windows with the XMouse behavior active (or de-active).
How to Activate or Deactivate XMouse Toggle:
– Simply right-click on a window, and the XMouse Toggle button will appear. (It’s in a left panel).- Select “On” or “Off” and it will turn XMouse on or off for that window.- Press OK, to confirm.
Note, you can also click on a background window, and toggle the XMouse behavior, or mouse-over the XMouse Toggle button itself, and toggle it. This works for non-XFCE (just for window managers that have the XMouse Toggle functionality).
How to Tether the XMouse Toggle to a Mouse
A better (more convenient) method is to make the window with XMouse Toggle always appear in front of any mouse pointer, whether it be a touchpad, a mouse, a gesture-sensitive input, or a rubber-grip mouse. This is easily achieved with the XWM. (Or, if you’re in XFCE, with the Window Manager)
– Simply right-click on a window, and the XMouse Toggle button will appear. (It’s in a left panel).- Select “Always on top” and it will toggle XMouse on or off for that window.
