I am using a PIC16F628A. I have no idea what is going on, but I have three entries in my LCD at startup. I have been googling for hours but no luck.

This is the code I’m using to display these entries. I think the issue has something to do with the 14th bit that I’m passing to the BITSET functions. The reason I’m using the 14th bit is because I’m trying to make the LCD display a bitmap within the byte. This is a 3×4 bitmap.

I have noticed the 14th bit at the 1,8,3,7 position on the LCD. I have also noticed that the other 7 positions are displaying a relatively normal bitmap (not all black).

Additional information: I’m using the LCD with the pins D3 (RS) and D8 (E) connected to a 9V battery. I’m assuming that this is not an issue.
