My Films (previously known as MOVIEFILM) is the only known fully integrated solution which allows a MediaPortal user to both directly access and control the power and flexibility of its installed database, while seamlessly integrating it with the MediaPortal user interface.
My Films is designed to function as a decoupled plugin, allowing it to be as easy to install and use as it is to remove. As a matter of fact, we have designed My Films to be a plug-n-play solution, which simply requires the user to unzip and run the installer. On start up, it will ask to run My Films, and the user is simply asked if they wish to continue with the installation. After the installation, the user is asked again to restart the system, which is expected since My Films is a plugin which changes the registry.
The end user database can be stored in a My Movies or Personal Video Database (PVDB), which is your choice, as long as it is compatible with MediaPortal. If you already have one installed, the installation will run in a command-line mode which allows you to view the database contents, export/import the data in a MySQL database, and even import/export the data as a CSV file or other formats. You can even import the My Films database to an XML or database which we support.
The user interface can support My Movies and PVDBs, both of which you can access from the libraries or from a menu screen in the My Films application. You can also access the movie database directly from MediaPortal, as well as local stored content in My Movies.
