Western Australia’s government has announced an immediate and permanent ban on the export of live cattle, lamb and goat meat to Indonesia.

The ban has been imposed to protect Australia’s reputation and the welfare of animals.

Meat and Livestock Australia has condemned the ban.

The Indonesian government said it would work with the Australian and Indonesian agriculture ministers to try to bring an end to the ban.

Indonesia is Australia’s third largest market for beef and lamb exports.

Meat and Livestock Australia chief executive Richard King says the decision is akin to putting someone with a gun to someone’s head and taking it away.

Mr King says his organisation has called on the government to reconsider its position.

He says there will be severe economic and financial consequences.

“We have been working very closely with both governments to give them every consideration and to assure them we are working to the maximum extent we can to see a better outcome,” he said.

“I think it’s an all or nothing approach.”

Mr King says the ban was imposed without consultation, is a risk to safety and a breach of contracts.

“I just think it’s a very, very draconian position to adopt,” he said.

“We urge the governments to sit down and talk to people.”

Lamb producers say they are happy with the ban and their exports to Indonesia will not be affected.

They say the ban could have a very negative impact for export markets in China and South Korea.

Lamb Australia chief executive Chris Griffith says the ban is a further indictment of the government’s pig-headed attitude toward Indonesia.

He says that the decision is the sort of self-defeating and short sighted political line that has no place in world trade or for that matter in Australian society.

“Forget the political motivations, Indonesia is also Australia’s third largest market for lamb and the loss of that market is significant,” he said.

“It will have a devastating effect on the Australian lamb industry.”

How to Install WFetch from the web?

NOTE: In case you are experiencing problems with your previous version and after creating a new install you still keep getting a “file not found” error after launching the program, please delete the previous installation folder.

The recommended way to install WFetch is through the.exe installer. The other version is the.dmg installer, but this is only compatible with macOS (Mavericks version 10.9 or higher) and not with older versions of MacOS (Mavericks, Yosemite, El Capitan).

Open the.exe installer located in the downloads folder and follow the instructions to install WFetch.

Note: The files will automatically be installed in your user folder, but if you want to install the whole application in your computer, the default location is %ProgramFiles%\Microsoft\Windows\WebFetcher.
